San Antonio with a population of over 1.3million residents, ranks as the 7th largest city in America.
It is famous for it's Riverwalk downtown, the Alamo, Six Flags, and the NBA team -
The San Antonio Spurs, just to name a few.
We arrive at the Alamo and tour the grounds.
We discover that the Alamo was founded as a mission in 1718.
In 1836, decades after it had closed, it became a symbol of the Texas revolution.
For 13 days, 200 defenders held the Alamo against a force of over 1000 Mexican troops.
The most famous of these heroes were Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and William Travis.
With the heat pushing triple digits, we decide to go indoors.
Even the horses are taking shelter!
The Guinness World Records exhibit looks interesting.
I wonder what the world's largest women feels like?
Maybe something like this!
Ruth points the way to the Riverwalk.
Millions of people visit Riverwalk every year.
They enjoy an urban delight that winds along the San Antonio River.
We eat lunch along the edge of the Riverwalk.
As we leave the city, we see the Tower of the Americas in the distance.
Tomorrow we take on the Texas hill country on our long drive to Santa Fe.
